Our Program
CUE Cantonese Immersion recognizes the importance of play in the learning process for young children. Play and planned activities are the basis for learning in our program. We believe that when children are enjoying the process of play, learning will come naturally.
Since Cantonese is a spoken language, our theme based curriculum will focus primarily on learning conversational Cantonese speaking and listening skills. Students will be encouraged to learn and use Cantonese through group discussions, play, songs and teacher guided interactive activities.

Celebrate Traditions 傳統節日慶祝
Students will learn about and celebrate traditional Chinese holidays such as the Chinese New Year, Qingming Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival through stories, arts & crafts, and music.
Circle Time 講故事
We begin the class with circle time to introduce the lesson topic. Each class is comprised of story time, games, music, group discussions and writing.
Arts & Crafts 手工
We will talk about art while students are crafting to help them learn words to describe colors, shapes, materials and textures. Students will take pride in describing their creations, thus encouraging speech and language development.
Group Games 遊戲
Learning is made fun with interactive games that encourage students to participate in conversation and problem-solving. A variety of conversational phrases and expressions are practiced and learned in the process of playing games.
About the Director
Kapo Szeto is an Early Childhood Educator and the founder of CUE Cantonese Immersion, an early Cantonese learning program for children ages three to seven. The goal of the program is to make Cantonese learning fun through engaging and interactive activities.
At a young age, Kapo immigrated to Vancouver BC from Hong Kong with her family. She grew up learning English as her second language while retaining her native language to communicate with her parents and relatives. The ability to be bilingual became increasingly important while living in a diverse and multicultural society. Kapo believes that acquiring a second language is a skill which we can all benefit from and it is a gift that we can offer to our next generation as they learn to live in a linguistically and culturally diverse world.
Realizing that there is an interest for non-traditional and age appropriate Cantonese learning programs from parents in the community, Kapo decided to follow her passion for working with children and established an early years Cantonese Immersion program in Vancouver BC.
Understanding that parents wanted a program in which their children can learn Cantonese in a play-base, fun and positive environment, Kapo created CUE Cantonese Immersion to reflect these values. The goal of the program is to offer an enriching learning environment that allows children to participate in meaningful experiences and enjoy themselves in the learning process. Kapo strongly believes that inspiring and capturing children’s curiosity at an early age will greatly foster their eagerness for learning in the future.
CUE Early Cantonese Immersion Program has been established since 2009 and has been well received by the community. We are very proud of its successes and bright future!
